Celia Hartnett, B.S., M.P.A.
Laboratory Director |
|
Director Hartnett has over thirty-two years experience in forensic science with local, county, and state law enforcement agencies and as an independent consultant. She is court qualified in many areas of forensic science, including crime scene reconstruction, firearms and toolmarks, serology, impression evidence, trace evidence, blood alcohol analysis and interpretation, controlled substances, and gunshot residue analysis. Ms. Hartnett has a B.S. in Criminalistics and a Masters in Public Administration. She is responsible for both the Criminalistics and Administrative units with a total of fifteen staff members.

Tisa L. Baumgartner, B.S.
Laboratory Technician |

Ms. Baumgartner specializes in performing blood alcohol analysis & drug screening of blood & urine evidence. She also has training in clothing examination & biological fluid identification, and has assisted other forensic scientists with scene examinations.

Terri Haddix, M.D.
Forensic Pathologist |

Dr. Haddix has worked in the area of forensic pathology for over 10 years. She received forensic pathology training in Seattle, WA and neuropathology training at Stanford. She is board certified in anatomic, forensic and neuropathology. She has performed forensic autopsies in several counties throughout California and has testified as an expert in forensic pathology in both criminal and civil cases.

Keith E. Petersen Inman, B.S., M.Crim.

Keith Inman has over 30 years experience as a criminalist, and been employed by city, county and state law enforcement agencies as well as serving as a consultant in private practice for six years prior to joining the staff at Forensic Analytical. His areas of specialty include DNA analysis, crime scene reconstruction, and trace evidence examination. In addition to presenting numerous papers at professional conferences, he has co-authored several forensic science texts. He has taught in the Criminal Justice Administration department at California State University, Hayward, and currently teaches a variety of general forensic science and forensic DNA courses on-line.

John Jacobson, B.S. (eq.)

Mr. Jacobson is a Senior Forensic Scientist with specialties in firearms & toolmark examination, fingerprinting, crime scene reconstruction and photography. He began his forensic science career with the Crime Scene Investigation Division of the South African Police Service in 1991 and was subsequently assigned to the Forensic Science Laboratory of the South African Police Service in 1996. In addition to testifying in Regional and Supreme Courts in South Africa and Swaziland, he has also qualified as an expert witness in several counties in California. During his career, he has attended more than 2,600 crime scenes and 1,100 post mortem examinations. To date, Mr. Jacobson has completed more than 1,795 firearms cases.

Laurie A. Kaminski, B.A.

Ms. Kaminski specializes in trace evidence examinations including hairs, fibers and glass. She also performs latent print examinations. In addition, she has training in crime scene processing and evidence collection. She possesses seven years of experience and knowledge in the area of light microscopy. Her previous experience involved the identification of fungal spores in a variety of matrices and asbestos fiber identification utilizing polarized light microscopy and phase contrast microscopy.

Charles V. Morton, M.Crim.

Mr. Morton has over forty years of experience as a criminalist, including over twenty years' experience as a crime laboratory director. His experience includes examination of a wide variety of physical evidence and expert testimony. Mr. Morton has extensive experience in laboratory and field examination of physical evidence, crime scene processing, and crime scene reconstruction. He works closely with other Forensic Analytical laboratory staff in evidence examination and case review, as well as the interpretation of findings.

Todd M. Rigley, B.S.
Forensic Scientist |

Mr. Rigley holds a B.S. in Cellular-Molecular Biology from Humboldt State University, in Arcata, California. He has extensive experience in Serology, with a specialization in autosomal DNA and Y-STRs. He began his professional career as a Criminalist / DNA Analyst with the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services. Mr. Rigley took his expertise to the private sector, where he worked as a Research Associate for Prolexys Inc., then as a Forensic Serology Supervisor in the DNA Section of Myriad Genetic Laboratories, Inc. He earned the position of Senior Forensic DNA Analyst with Sorenson Forensics where he was promoted to Associate Laboratory Director. His previous technical experience involved DNA purification and sequencing, primer design and positional cloning in the biotechnology industry. Mr. Rigley has testified as an expert on autosomal DNA and Y-STR cases.

Eleanor J. Salmon, M.S.F.S.

Ms. Salmon is responsible for consultative and analytical services on a wide variety of cases involving biological material. She possesses knowledge and experience in the area of DNA analysis including isolation of biological materials and subsequent preparation, analysis and interpretation by PCR and traditional serological techniques. Her previous experience involved processing of backlogged forensic casework from various police agencies using the 13 CODIS STR loci designated by the FBI and high throughput convicted offender DNA databasing.

Judith L. Stewart
Senior Forensic Toxicologist |

Ms. Stewart has over thirty-three years experience in forensic toxicology including over eight years experience as a laboratory director. She is court qualified in many areas of forensic science, including blood alcohol analysis and interpretation, blood and urine analysis and interpretation and analysis of controlled substances. Ms. Stewart has testified as an expert witness in forensic toxicology in both criminal and civil cases.

Jaco M. Swanepoel, B.S. (eq.)

Mr. Swanepoel is a Senior Forensic Scientist with specialties in firearms and toolmark examination, fingerprint collection, interpretation, and identification, crime scene investigation, crime scene reconstruction and crime scene photography. He began his career as a Forensic Scientist with the Crime Scene Investigation Division of the South African Police Service in 1988 and was subsequently assigned to the Ballistics Section of the South African Police Service Forensic Science Laboratory in 1999. In addition to giving expert testimony in both the Regional and Supreme Court of South Africa, he has also testified in the Supreme Court of Swaziland. During his tenure at the Forensic Science Laboratory he was responsible for presenting all training on crime scene and microscopy photography. To date he has attended and investigated in excess of 5000 crime scenes, and has investigated and completed more than 2300 firearms cases.

Kenton S. Wong, B.S., M.A., D-ABC

Kenton Wong has over 20 years experience in forensic science with city and county law enforcement agencies. He is court qualified in many areas of forensic science, including crime scene reconstruction, firearms and toolmarks, arson accelerant examinations, blood alcohol analysis and interpretation, controlled substances, and toxicology. Mr. Wong holds a B.S. in Environmental Toxicology and a Masters in Biological Sciences. He is also a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Criminalistics, a licensed Clinical Toxicologist, and a board certified Crime Scene Investigator of the International Association for Identification. Currently Mr. Wong serves as the chairman of the Forensic Alcohol Advisory Committee for the California Association of Criminalists and on the California State Department of Health's Forensic Alcohol Review Committee.
